Re: Need a crossover for my new 400 lb center channel speake
OK, here you go.
LP is: 3mH-53uF-0.9mH
HP is: 11uF-2.2mH-40uF then 6R series resistor paralleled with 4uF followed by a 9R shunt.

That takes the horn down 6dB. According to how my active crossover was set, the horn was 10 below the woofers, but that doesn't seem right from what we measured.
If you use that Stromberg amp then you can easily roll the tweeter channel in or out. The 6dB attenuation should help with the noise of the amp. The 4uF bypass of the resistor works as a shelf to tip the top end up.
Let me know how this works out. Hope you have some caps that big. The cap on my low pass filter here is about 50uF. I think I bought a Solen or a Dayton.

What wattage on the resistors?

What would
you call their nominal impedance?

On the second graph we see the drivers' measured at the listening position after crossover. Green is the combined response. Don't know why the bass looks so bumpy, might have been where the mic was placed. The crossovers ended up being 3rd order at 600Hz for the low pass, 3rd order 750Hz for high pass. Reverse phase.

I would say the woofers look like.. 7 ohm and the 288's around 16-17 ohm from these graphs if I'm reading them right..

Re: Need a crossover for my new 400 lb center channel speake
5 watt resistors are enough. 10W is also fine. Just the standard fare from P.E. or Madisound. They'll be seeing fractions of a watt.

No problem. I fixed them now in the earlier posts.
Added a little bottom end last night....

JBL 4685s. Need to play a little with the tuning, but I'm guessing a low pass rolling off around 40-45 Hz should work fine....

You need more speakers - and bigger ones. :p
